Biography
Perspective unofficially began in 2007 when John-Andrew O’Rourke began writing songs for his “band.” He didn’t know who would be in it, or what genre it would flaunt, but he did have a drive to write music. After penning lyrics for over 20 songs, John-Andrew invited his brother Daniel to provide drums and his friend Branden Stanley to play piano. Realizing that a guitar would be necessary, he began to teach himself. So was born Perspective.
In early 2008, they released their first song, “When You and Me Danced,” at a local Swing Dance. People liked it, and the band seemed to be headed in the right direction. However, rough times ensued. Branden left the band after deciding it didn’t fit his style of music. John-Andrew and Daniel kept getting better at their instruments and recording new songs, but they made very little overall progress. As their skill grew, they came to realize the shortcomings of their music, and so the recording process ground to a halt.
In November of 2008, though, there was a spark as they rapidly completed 3 songs (“Lay My Life Down”, “Amazing Grace” and “God Bless America”) for various competitions. The recording process picked back up, and headway was made in many areas. In late 2009, Nate Scheidler joined the band after successfully collaborating to create “Shortsighted.” In July of 2010, the band released their first major song “Wake Up Now” and a new chapter was begun.
John-Andrew and Daniel currently live in Indiana, while Nate resides in Illinois. They continue to produce music as their time allows.
